Gallery uploads | VW Defrost knob and Vredestein Comtrac tires

Original VW defrost knob | Part# 211959621A. Right now, since my rear defrost isn’t funtioning, I am using this to control our Eberspacher BN4 heater. With my lack of electrical knowledge, I had a bit of trouble getting the wires connected right on the knob. Let me lay it out here. If you look at this picture, you’ll see three terminals. The one by it’s lonesome is marked ‘K.’ This should go to the device your trying to control. The other two terminals are marked 31 adn 15 (hard to tell in the pic.) Terminal 31 should go to a ground of some sort. Easy one to route to is at the passenger headlight. Terminal 15 should be your + hookup. Right now mine is coming straight from the battery with a 3amp fuse inline, but there are other options that can be used on your fuse panel that would be easier.

The other pics are of the Vredestein Comtrac tires that I have on our ‘63 Double Cab. Want tires with the correct load rating (unlike many?) These are one of your options. Highly recommended.

Rocky Mountain VW bus campout in the making

***Also see the official page for this camp out***
A few of us in the Denver area have thought about creating a campout in the area and are looking for some thoughts. Below are some starter ideas. Heading too much further into the mountains during May could get a bit chilly. Comment and let us know if you’d be interested. We are guessing 5 - 10 to start with? Maybe more? In any case, this is the very early stages and any thoughts or ideas are very welcomed.

It’s Friday…will the bus see some action this weekend?

We’ll see. It’s actually had alot of attention over the past few weeks. Alot of that being from installing the heater (which wouldn’t turn on last night….will have to investigate.) I have a package I got from Chris over at Busted Bus that has quite a few odds and ends that will make the bus a bit more functional. Basic stuff like a working wiper motor, wiper arms, a horn button, and other small but seemingly necessary items to have :) Hopefully we’ll be able to get some of it put in over the next few days. A big item I’ll be happy to get to is the sliding door hinges. Mine have been messed up ever since I owned the bus and I’m looking forward to fixing it up. Weather is good at the moment but there are reports of snow heading our way. I’m going to be working on a page that will have a list of all the projects or repair items that we need to do to the bus. The list is pretty descent, so I’m hoping this will help me keep track.

Also coming, some more scans of VW literature. I have a few more manuals and also want to get to Kinko’s or somwhere where I can scan these large print VW ad’s from old Time magazines. I’ll also be taking a few more high res shots of the parts that I am going to try and install this weekend also.
